QT Setup

Whats a good size QT setup? I was thinking a 20g i got a 75g DT. Also all im gonna need is a tank, heater, light, hob filter, pvc for hiding, and a small powerhead correct? I been looking at those startup kits at walmart or would it be better to buy in pieces to get a better filter? Any suggestions on this? The setup at walmart cost almost 100$.

I'd look for a used set up, you can pick one up cheap on Craig's List or on your local RC forum. Size depends on what you plan to QT. Most reef dwelling fish and all corals would be fine in a 20, but open water fish like Tangs or Anthias would have problems in a 20.

Given that you're using it for your 75g a 20 sounds just right. You don't need anything fancy for your QT. So the one from walmart will be fine but I agree with grun that you may find a better deal from a used set up.

I got mine used. I looked on ebay, craigslist, and RC buy/sell thread and found a used 20 gallon acrylic tank with accessories. I got lucky and the seller was right down the street from my house. I picked it up for about $50. I use a sponger filter, a nano Koralia powerhead, heater and a hang on ammonia indicator along with a few pieces of PVC fitings. I break it down and clean it up when I'm not using it.
