Question on vortech MP10, and has anyone ordered from saltysupply?

All the tanks I see them on have a couple inches with no water for the waves. How much space do you need so it doesn't spill over? Has anyone tried putting glass on the top ends to keep the tank full, because on a tank with a rim it would look low all the time.

Thinking about getting one after Christmas, but am not sure it's for me quit yet.

Also has anyone ordered from salty supply? They have the MP10 for 179.99 with free shipping and haven't heard anything about them before.

Salty supply is a great place to shop. I don't think you will make a wave huge enough to loose water. Most people use the vortech for random flow patterns and not the wave setting.

I have an MP-10 on my rimless tank. If I really wanted, I can splash a wave over the glass (don't ask me how I know!) but no, a glass top is 100% unnecessary. Gotta love the power of a vortech!

I will second salty supply. Richard is a good guy with good prices i purchaced both of my mp-40s from him. I dont know about the mp-10 but if you have the money get a spare cage for it because the performance really drops when it gets dirty this way you always have a spare clean one. They are quite inexpensive.

Bobby get the mp20.

If you get the mp 10 and its not strong enough your SOL. If you get the MP20 and its too strong you can just turn it down some. Also you can upgrade the mp20 to a mp40W later. The mp10 is not upgradable.

Bought my MP10 from Salty Supply about 6 months ago and highly recommend them. I just ordered some Brightwell additives (25% off). I have tried all of the wave settings. I can generate a nice wave and it doesn't spill over. I have a Solana 34 gallons, rimless and my water level is about 3/4" from the top. I think it also depends on where you place the MP10, mine is about 5" from the top, dead center.

I run an mp40 and mp10 on my 75G rimmed tank. It never looks low even with both are running in short pulse making a crazy wave. You never see the waterline below the black rim, to answer that question for you.

Great. Thanks for all the responses. I think I will be buying one for sure.

I have thought about the mp20, but it's hard enough for me to justify spending 180.00 on a pump when I don't REALLY NEED it when I have good pumps plus I plan on staying with small tanks only. I breaking down my big tank 50 gal and plan on using the money for the pump. Te videos I have watched on it look amazing, but I didn't want to waste 180.00 on a pump if it didn't look right on my tank.

I have purchased from Salty supply with no issues and well packaged (I live in Japan)
I keep my water level close to the surface and just placed the MP-40w lower in the tank so I do not get slash issues and I would go with the MP 20 and potentially turn it down.
It gives more flexibility and allows one to get a bigger tank and use the same equipment.
