I have black urchins (hijacked on liverock) & not sure if I should keep them. I read that they eat algae but what type.I don't want to loose the corraline algae but looking to get rid of green and brown algae. Jim

They will feast on purple coralline algae

I just added one from another tank, and he is mowing down all the algae. The rock he is on looks like a candy cane: red with white stripes.

I have two good size urchins in the fuge tank & was going to move them into the dosplay tank to help control the green & brown algae but I don't want to loose any corolline algae, so I'll check with the LFS to find a new home.
