Flatworm exit - when to change carbon

Used flatworm exit.

Tried the polyfilter and lost fish.
Now have carbon in sump and chemipure.

How long do I leave it in there?
Do I change out and repeat?

I changed mine out after 2 days (probably overkill). I kept the next batch for a week and then went to a once a month cycle.
