Soundproofing?
Does anyone have any suggestions for a good product to use to sound proof the interior of a stand? The acoustical foam panels are a bit expensive ($150 for 48 sqft) and I have a rather large tank so I would like to find a less expense solution. Thanks.

I have heard of people using thicker styrofoam inserts, but I have no idea how it turned out.

With sound proofing, also comes heat retention.

I used a product I found at Home Depot called sound board.
I asked a worker there and he pointed me to it. He told me it was used for dampening sound.

you could try a product like Quietrock 525 by Quiet Solutions but its a little expensive, like $60 for a 4x8 sheet. Its equivelent to 8 layers of drywall. Or save some money and do multiple layers of standard drywall. I'm a drywall contractor, we've built professional recording studios using multiple layers. Theres other things you can do to add to the sound deadening, but I think that would be the easiest.

It does seem to cut down the noise and it holds up pretty well. I've got some in my zoanthid tank stand that is approx. 5 years old and is still holding up.

I dampened vibration by putting a closed cell pvc mat under my sump. It's a kitchen mat from Costco I cut and doubled up.
