Which/How to setup refugium on 55

Hello people, I hope I am at the right place. My boss has a std wally world 55 gal tank in his office. The fellow who said he would set it up did just that. Added a few rocks, a little sand, water and 3 fish. Came back a few times over the months and a few waters changes later quit coming (to far to travel). Myself not knowing anything about the saltwater world felt sad for him and the tank. I decided to take over and see if I could do anything to get it where he wanted it. Now, nine months later, have made some progress. The setup, that you see (hopefully) consist of 55 gal 48x12x20 a hob skimmer, 3 #2 koralias, and a canister filter. Lights are pc's and t-5's. Now to my questions???? 1. I believe the tank would be better off with a refuge as opposed to the canister due in part to the amount of "stuff/water" volume. I/we live in a rural area, lfs is 80 miles w/high prices. So, I buy/bought most supplies through Pet Solutions on line. Studying this sight and others I believe the Eshopps Model 100 might work? So, 2. Is this ok for what I want to do or is their another product/option I should consider. Also will need advice on what else I will need. I know a pump (what size) thinking Mag7 or Mag9.5? So from this info can/will someone help me out. ALL info much appreciated. Also be specific as I am really in the dark on this. And will show this to the boss to help persuade to loosen the purse strings! The pic's are before and now.

First ditch the Wally World tank. My seams bottom seams blew out on mine. Second, get one already drilled with overflow. Third, that sump will work but a mag drive 5 is all thats needed. Get a good skimmer and a clean up crew. I use Nassurius Snails, put all my crabs in the sump.
