question about moving stand becasue of wet floor

I have a question about moving my stand. I need to rise my stand up off the floor because I flood the floor and the water went up under the stand so now I need to raise the stand so the wooden floor can dry up under the stand. The question is can I just take the water down till it is covering just the sand and raise the stand up and put it on legs and then fill the tank back up with the same water all in the same day. Will it be ok to do that?

You shouldn't need a whole lot of room to get under there. Did you consider just shimming it and putting sliders underneath? That might give you the room you need to blow a fan under the tank and dry it. Even move it a few inches if you have too. The 25mm magic sliders at home depot are rated for 1,600lbs. I had them under my 105g when it was on hardwood and I could CAREFULLY move it a good foot from the wall when I needed too.

If you jam a few shims under each corner and a few other places and raise it slowly you could probably get it up a good inch. You only need about 1/2 in to get a slider under there. I think I had about 8 or 10 under my 105g (4 ft long).

As far as removing the water and putting it back in, yes that's perfectly fine...we upgrade tanks all the time and do virtually the same thing. Just make sure you don't leave your live rock out of water for very long at it...let it sit in a bucket with water, flow, and heat if its going to be more than say about 10 - 15 minutes.

I'm in a similar boat. I moved my skimmer to be external of my stand, and I didn't notice but it dripped on our laminate floor for several days. Only a little bit, but enough to buckle up a few of the planks. Luckily I have the furniture sliders under my tank, so on my next water change, I'll move the tank out from the wall and replace the damaged planks. We have the sliders on our 55 gal FW tank too and it makes moving it relatively easy.

Do you happen to have a hand cart or dolly? If the stand is not sitting totally flat on the floor, you might be able to get the bottom of a hand cart under the stand and lift it up a small bit, enough for somone to slide some sliders under the stand.
