Help determine whats cause this:
my other sps frags / mini colonies are fine with extension etc, only these are showing symptoms, what would say it it could be based on the pictures: Click on the HI-RES Closeup for BIG macro pictures, didn't want to link the huge shots directly Mini-Colony #1: HI-RES CLOSEUP: http://imgur.com/l3BED.jpg HI-RES CLOSEUP: http://imgur.com/TTuWV.jpg ![]() ![]() Frag #2: HI-RES CLOSEUP: http://imgur.com/U9Jlg.jpg ![]() |

+1 on that and the first one, millis show symptoms different than other coral due to the rough skeletal structure, smooth Acros show more distinct bite marks.

I've fought the AEFW fight before and when I set up my new tank I dipped everything for 6wks every week with Revive. Best thing I ever did.
You should ALWAYS dip everything you put in your tank. Those things can wreak havok in an SPS tank. Good luck. I agree with the others. #2 does look like AEFW to me. |

the second pic looks like AEFW to me, as i have been battling them on one colony lately. the first pic does not look like AEFW. Based on what i have read, AEFW usually do not target millis or prostrata, whichever that is..

AEFW will attack Millis. They were the first corals in our tank that were attacked.

I don't know if this damage is caused by AEFW or not but you can take a turkey baster to your corals and really blast them and see if anything comes off. I does take a considerable blast to get them to fly off.

Lots of people with firsthand experience saying that looks like aefw damage, but I really dont think it does
not pronounced enough (bite)marks that I have seen, but just like the debate above whether or not they will attack millis.....there are more than one type of aefw......some will go after millis and similar first, and some will go after them last. The ones that prefer millis seem to be much larger I would say its a good thing nothing came off of the coral, even though a definitive answer would be nice Im sure ![]() how long have you had the corals in question out of curiousity??

The first pic looks like rtn I would frag the branches that still look good and get rid of the base. Looks to be from shipping stress or water quality is off

I have to agree with flyyyguy, it doesn't look like a pest to me. You have yet to post your water parameters which is what I am assuming is the case here. It would also be helpful to know your dosing regiment as in do you use auto dosing pumps, or do it manually, what do you use to maintain levels etc etc. SPS require that your levels stay very consistent day to day and jumps (especially with alk) can kill SPS FAST.

I agree with some that the first picture looks more like RTN. I'd start fragging it. As far as the tricolor, I also don't think it looks quite like AEFW, though it could be. Is it like that all around or just on that one side? Have you moved it? How long have you had the pieces for? When did you first notice it? has it progressed?
