Sump help
Hey guys, I am building my first sump. I have 55 gallon display tank so I am limited on space under the tank. I decided to go with a 10 gallon aquarium as my sump. My tank is not reef ready so I need to know how many gph my overflow should be? Also how many gph should my return pump be? Layout will be 3 sections from left to right. First section will have Reef Octopus skimmer then 2 baffles. Next will be my refugium, 2 more baffles, and then my return section.

I have a 10 gallon sump myself, and judgin by his layout, I mm pretty sure theres not enough room, unless he is using an external return pump. The skimmer takes up more then half the sump!. even the smallest octopus does

No way you're going to get a worthwhile fuge out of a 10 gallon sump. You can't fit anything bigger at all? A 10 gallon won't leave you much room for anything, like Saltwatercoral2 said, even the smallest skimmer will take up most of the 10 gallon tank. You'll need places for heaters, return pump, and any other equipment you want to put down there.

I have a 10 gallon sump. Its fine for me because my Skimmer has a small footprint. I would go as big as possible. On my 50 gallon, I have 500 gph on return.
