Yes, my rabbitfish liked to eat polyps and brains. I nicknamed it Zombie before I finally caught it and returned to the LFS.

:S ... So do they all eat corals? Because I have a lobo coral I don't want it to become dinner! Hahah now I'm thinking it's better out of the tank. Any other experiences?

Zombie, haha good one

I have had a Foxface in my 125 for 2 months now and have not seen it touch any polyps. From what i understand its hit or miss.

What kind of rabbit? Foxedface rabbits are usually excellent. Mine was always my favorite fish until I lost him and others due to a heater malfunction

Great personality. They're mainly herbivores, so they don't tend to eat corals. They do however, graze algae and can nip at algae and algae films on corals. If they are fed well though, they are really pretty safe though.

Great grazer, much better than tangs in that regard.

Would really like another one, maybe soon....

My foxface occassionally nips the heads off of pulsing xenia but as fast as that stuff grows I don't begrudge him a snack now and then. I have never noticed him nipping any other corals and I have a lot of sps/lps.

Sorry about the loss, i would hate to lose anything to some malfunction :S... hope u get a new one soon ... I have the blue linned rabbitfish or scribbled rabbitfish, i love the colors ... after introducing it, it was a bit stressed but ate a few flakes. Today it was eating like crazy and showing no signs of stress ... it has not nipped any corals but im on the lookout for any missing parts...

In my experience.......

the coral is eaten in the quest for the algae around it. I always keep romaine on an acrylic rod in my tank for my foxface and he's never touched any coral. Keep them well fed and most people seem to be okay imho
