Silicone oil in the tank -> skimmer doesn't work
Hello everybody,
during the weekend I equiped my seawater aquarium with an external filter (JBL Crystalprofi 701e). After this modification I do not get any foam in the skimmer. I contacted JBL and they told me, that they use some kind of silicone oil to preserve the seals. This oil seems to destroy the surface tension of my water. Although I cleaned the filter (I could really feel the oil on the surface), there still seems to be some oil in the water, so I don't get any foam in the skimmer. Is there any possibility to filter the oil out of the water? How do I have to clean the skimmer? I am afraid, that hot water alone will not remove all the oil. Cheers Mario |
