HELP!!!!!!! Substrate question

hey guys im new to the forums, i decided to start a saltwater aquarium. my tanks has been running for 4 days with live rock that has been accidently washed by tap water and cured premium Fiji live rock to seed the dead rock and to get the cycle going, my current substrate is crushed coral i found out that crushed coral is not recommended so im thinking of buying sugar fine sand (Fiji pink sand). my tank is currently cycling if i change the substrate wont that disturb the cycle? or will i have to wait for my tank to finish cycling than change substrate please reply today is april 12th,2011 and im buying the sand on april 16th,2011 and thinking of changing it on that day.

ohh and another question my tank has been running for 4 days i checked the pH and it was at 8, the next day i checked the ammonia and it was at 0.25ppm and the next day i checked my ammonia again and it was at zero, i also checked the nitrite and it was also at zero and so as the nitrate does this mean my cycling id done because that seemed pretty short other people seemed to take really long (btw im using the API testing kit

IMO - I would remove the crushed coral, and replace it with sand. I don't prefer sugar sand as it blows around too much, but thats up to you. Replace your sand - then wait a week and start checking your levels.
