My dogface puffer needs help! listing to one side :(
I think he has an air bubble and I have been trying to massage it out of him for the past few days... he has since stopped eating and is looking skinny... the massages have helped a little but I do still see a bulge on his side and he is having a bit of trouble swimming still... I love him and I can say he is my favorite fish and I want to know if there is anything I can do to save my friend . My fstupd gf wanted to see him puffed up so she took him up to the top and shook him around a bit which is why all this is happening... When I found out, I beat the **** out of her verbally..
Anyone know what I can do? so far im just holding him vertically and massaging his bulge towards his mouth in the hopes of getting him to burp it out |

Post this in the FOWLR section, it might get more hits. I'm sorry that I can't help more.

From what I have read the standard puffer cpr is to hold his tail under water so he is vertical with his head facing the surface and poke and rub the bubble twards his mouth. I think your on the right track, but it's not 100% to work. Thankfully I have never had this problem, and hope never to. Good luck, hope your puff makes it!

I doubt you can force the air out (assuming that's what it is) or force feed him without doing permanent damage to the fish, if this hasn't been done already. You can't squeeze a fish with any pressure and not expect internal injuries. Internal bleeding is the cause of many lumps and dangerous bruising in fish.
