LED Combo fixture
Hi
I have a 55g tank from awhile back that was used to house an octopus. I am now in the process of converting it into a reef. I would like to go with LED for the lights, mainly because of the heat issues with other lights, but I also worry if the circuit can even handle a 500w light. Iv'e done a lot of research, and I basically know what my options are. I'm looking at Ecoxotic, Ecoray, Kessil, TrueLumen, AquaIllumination, and just a Cree DIY kit. As they are expensive, and I have no real distinguishing reasons to buy one over the other, I am just looking for deals on Ebay. Although, because you don't control the quantity on Ebay (if they're selling one, you get one, even if you need three), I may have to mix different lights. Is this "ok"? Would everything be mountable and attractive? If so, I would be interested in buying kessil's, as they are small and can be placed between fixtures, and then adding more kessils and other fixtures later. If I could just get one kessil on now, I would be able to start putting frags directly under it. If I get a large fixture later, it should be able to fit snuggle between them, and cove the areas that they miss. What do you guys think of doing this in order to start slow and have options? Thanks |

how much coverage does the kessil provide? and how many frags do you plan to put under it... i thought kessil lights only have 1 color per light, so you would use white or blue?

I would be using the white, but later on I would add other colors, and I may add some actinic stunner striplights immediately if it's to white. In addition, I could get a fixture like the AI SOL that has both. This is similar to the Kessil in that it is small so I could work around it later.

I would look into the new Ecoxotic Panorama fixtures that should be out this week. I have been using Ecoxotic stuff for the last 7 months and really like them. They are a great company as well.

There is a new one? I like the old one, and was about to buy it, but I wanted to wait a little more seeing as new modules came out. What will this new one do differently?
