If that is green star polyp then soon you should have lots more! It spreads very rapidly and is a nice specimen but can overtake a tank.....just a fore warning.....congratulations I had some star polyp about two years ago and liked it a lot. Good luck and keep us posted

Looks like greens star polyps to me as well. Fortunately, it's pretty easy to pull off the rocks to keep it from over running the tank.

Rather than 'pull off the rocks to keep it from over running the tank', I'd set the rock somewhere that I could pile small rubble all around it. Then when the GSP grows out onto the rubble, you can just cut it loose, sell the frag and put new rubble back in the old spot. That way you can keep your new GSP and maintain it to the size you want and have frags to sell or trade in to your LFS.

I was sure thats what it was but being new to this myself I needed conformation. Thanks a million all, this place is a new reefers heaven lol. And yes Ron thats what i plan to do with this. my brother has been reefing for many years and he also figured star polyps that will spred quickly and will be down to help set up for resell as growth happens. Thanks again all for the feedback.

I had a nice piece of rock covered in gsp.....rock was approx 10lbs and I kept it in my sump for six months before selling it but about three days under some t5s it came right back to life! They don't need much light to survive imo
