My 40g breeder
Hey all, I'd to share my tank with everyone for some feedback, tips, etc.
This is my 2nd tank. First being a 29g reef tank that went well enough that after a year I went with a 40g breeder and this tank has been up and running since Dec. 2011 I use a Tek 6 bulb, Bashsea twisted skimmer, BRS biopellet reactor(modded) as well as thier GFO/carbon reactors. I use a Mag 7 for the main pump, a mag 3 on the biopellets and a Maxi-jet 1200 for the gfo and carbon. I have a 20g sump which is kind of an odd design but it worked in my head and its working great in life so far. Sorry for the crappy pics....iphone is the best camera I have. |

Thanks!
Question for anyone who can help... I know the tank is only 6 months old but I'm having a somewhat bad algae problem off and on. My water test prefect in everything but phosphates. I mean its not crazy high .06-.02 on avg. I use a Hannah checker so I'm guessing im getting a good reading and from what Ive read that is a somewhat low phosphate number so why am I battling algae so much? Water temp stays around 78-79 and Ive been using Brightwells salt but just started with H20cean salt in hope that helps? |

I should add that I feed the fish once a day and feed the coral at least once a week so I dont think its an overfeeding issue. Also I dont really dose. I normally do about a 5-10 gallon water change every 2-3 weeks.

Your tank is gorgeous. I love the footprint of 40b. Your rockscaping offers the perfect amount of swimming room for fish and placement options for corals, IMO.
Did your livestock get transferred from the 29g? Does your wrasse show any aggression? Where's your goby/shrimp pair? Every good tank needs one.
