Looks like unwanted algea. It doesnt likehigher flow. Uneatin and other waste may collect on the coral which helps feed the algea. Of course its just a guess as i know nothing of your setup.

It's algae, what's your clean up like, I would be getting some turbo snails, astreas, crabs and such to get rid of it, also how old is the tank and wht are your paraments cause it does not look to healthy...

If there is algae growing on it then the tissue is receding and you may have bigger problems.

+1 to Vince's question about parameters? Also what are your lighting and filtration?

Sorry, should have put that,
It's a 180g bow front, I have three 250w metal halides, 10k, two 96w actinics for lighting. I run a basic sump, 10g refug, 300g Reef octopus skimmer, GFO, carbon in reactors. My parameters are
Nitrate- 0, Phosphate- between .25 and 0. Both according to my API tests 5 minutes ago.

The picture really looks worse than the tank actually looks. The Monti doesn't look bad really. Everything else in the tank is thriving and growing like crazy.

The tips of your coral bleached. Algae seems to be growing on the dead sections.

looks like the monti is getting strong direct flow. the edge normally dies as a result, and algae grows on it.

Algae cannot grow on healthy (SPS) coral tissue. Gorgonians seem to be an exception.

I also think algae.. Does it blow off with a turkey baster or similar? Is that algae anywhere else like sand or rocks?

So I guess it seems to be some type of algae, the question now is
What do I do about it? It is in pretty direct flow, should I move the whole
Colony? I have no algae anywhere else in the tank. Should I just frag those areas off that are growing it?
