Looks purty but still want to know pricing and availability of the upgrade path for us early adopters.

The price is whats keeping a lot of people (such as myself) from owning one. I will say though, that the real-time calculated spectral plot in Ecosmart Live is a pretty sweet feature. Last edited by Nanook; 10/03/2012 at 12:07 PM. |

I saw it in person at MACNA, and was impressed with the color rendition. Definitely the best if not one of the best LED setups on display. In no way can I afford one though haha.

I think it's an improvement over the old Radion but it's still too expensive.
I think EcoTech could have omitted the 520nm and 590nm emitters in favor of some 475nm and 500nm. White emitters don't lack for green and yellow like they do cool blue and cyan. I'm glad the EcoTech engineers are reading the DIY LED sections here and over at Nano. |

The pro is expencive but it will be the top led product out there. I am also very curious about the upgrade paths cost and when its going to be available.

I commented on the article as well:
Pacific Sun has had their Triton lamp out for over a month now, with more channels and more colors for $50 dollars more. They even have a special going on where you can get a two-bank Hyperion for $1300 USD, which has 10 colors and 8 channels. The Hyperion has been on the market for a long time, too. Those two lamps even include the cyan that mussel and hate mentioned above. The special is the equivalent to buying two normal Radions but getting twice the colors and more channels... The Radion Pro and Vega Color have been designed in ways that DIYers and Pacific Sun have realized long ago. LED's need the additional colors. Here's their thread about the Triton over in the sponsor forums: http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/sh....php?t=2170019 Josh Disclaimer: I own a Triton fixture, and have been extremely pleased with it. I don't think Pacific Sun will ever realistically compete in the U.S. market unless they advertise their products as well as EcoTech. Also, the fact that their product is often not nearly as polished as EcoTech's is a pretty serious knock against the company. |
