LTB: starter corals....new to reefing!

Hey I'm looking to get a couple small frags of some hardy corals for a couple of my tanks.... Unsure of what's all out there, I would like to try frogspawn/hammer, slimer, leathers, duncans, or the thick looking trees (not Kenya's). So far I've gotten a few cheapies (gsp, mushrooms, zoas, n a kenya) from my LFS and they're doing fine, just wanna set my sons tank up with something fun.

Will pay thru PayPal, I am located in Milwaukee, wi so you can factoring shipping

Thanks!!!!

There is a 50 post / and 3 month wait before you are allowed to buy or sale on these forums.

I learned the hard way that these posts don't end well.

Might i suggest checking the vendor forums located at the bottom of the main forum page.

Hope you don't catch the ban stick like I did

426hemi, you should be able to see the Sales forum. KLU, you have a little while to wait, and need some solid posts in the meanwhile. The rules protect buyers and sellers from fly-by-nights.
To answer your question, KLU, either go with softies like kenya trees, buttons, mushrooms, leathers, zoas and xenia...or if you have upper end T5 or MH lighting, you can go instead (not good for beginners to mix types) for the lps (large polyp stony) which require putting kalk powder (cheap) in your topoff water: the easy ones are euphyllias (hammer, frogspawn, torch) and caulestra (candycane and trumpet). Corals are quite easy: the exceptions are the sps or colored sticks that require super skimmers and hyperclean water and STILL can die for no apparent reason: we don't know all we need to know yet about them, I suspect, since I can remember when we couldn't keep green star polyp alive, and now it's a pest that can grow right up your glass and over all your rocks.

One way to score some good items in equipment and critters before then is to join a local club. These are the people that will show up at your door as live bodies in a tank crisis, have salt to spare on an lfs holiday when you're in a bind, and otherwise help you with advice and stuff. Check the clubs list on RC for one in your area or check the bulletin board at your lfs.
