Need help buying AI Vega.
Hey, guys I'm new to the hobby my tank is going on it's 2 month anniversary.
I bought the marineland reef ready led as my first fixture which, I think is doing ok for now. My stock consists of 2 clowns, 1 trumpet,1 war, 1 ora bird nest,1 frogspawn,1 brain. I have a standard 46 gallon euro 36"L x 16.25W x 20"H. Here are the models: Vega Blue - Black Vega Color - Black What's the difference between the Vega Blue & the Vega color. How many units will I need for starters? Will one do the trick? How high up do the need to be mounted? I bought this with this AQUAILLUMINATION RAIL KIT FOR SOL / VEGA LED FIXTURES - 36 INCH from marine depot and the controller. Can I mount 4-6 inches above rim?

They have a 24x24" footprint so I'd get 2. Also, I personally would definitely go color. The red and blue LEDs are for aesthetics, but they do help.
Que link to ************ in 5, 4, 3...

Also mount height Im assuming that has a lot do with coverage? As you can increase and decrease intensity. So, if I use the rail kit that sits on top of the tank I am probably gonna have 4-6 inches tops. I am assuming I than run them at low intensity cause in this small size tank I can bleach the hell outta my corals. Here is the link for rail kit http://www.amazon.com/AquaIlluminati.../dp/B00BGB4FC6. For a 36 inch though. I cannot hang them from ceiling cause it may mess up my security deposit in my apartment. Will this work possibly at low intensity?

Check out my pic above using the stand mounts. You could do the same thing with just two units. Attach to the stand mounts at the outside edge of the units.

Yes, make sure you keep the intensity low. When I first got my SOLs, I burned the hell out of some of my corals. I think AI is recommending 9" above water line for the Vega's - I'd assume the rails can swing that but I don't know. I have a 75 gallon and mine peak at 40% intensity right now, mounted 12" above the water. That said, there are a lot of folks here who run them a lot hotter than me.
One thing to consider before you pull the trigger - The colors don't currently come stock with Violet Bulbs - the upgrades, however, are replacing 2 of the Royal Blues with 2 Violets. That low band spectrum is really good for certain corals. I'm not sure if future Vega's will come stock with them. If you decide you want them, you'll have to custom order pucks at a later date. You can contact AI with questions - they're amazingly helpful. Best of luck -

Here ya go. That tank is sweet! Did you see the rails I posted up above can I do that with what I bought? I have to pick them up Monday from the ups store. I would will prob know by than. The rails I got look like they can actually be mounted like normal T5 fixtures but that would be to low to the water I am thinkin. I am hoping i didnt blow 60 bucks lol. Gonna delve into this now and check out this mounting system let me know If you already know the answer to this by looking at the link above. Thanks, Ron
