Fish Room Floor
I am building a fish room in my basement that will serve as a sump for my tank on the main floor. The room floor is concrete. I've painted it and it looks nice enough to keep as is, but my concern is that the uninsulated flooring might be rapidly cooling my 300 gallon system, especially in Canadian winter.
I like concrete floor because it can handle any water spillage. What are my options? Is there a way to ensure that the rooms stays warm enough or is it even a concern? |

I'm not sure, having always lived in a pretty mild climate, ie no snow! But I would think it wouldn't cool your system off too much if the room is heated/stays at a normal room temperature. If there are parts of the system in direct contact with the concrete floor, maybe some foam padding or something to insulate?

I'm much further south than you, alabama, but I have my sump in my basement that is unheated and has vents to outside and all I do is put an extra heater in for my own piece of mind and never had a problem.
Also hope you used an epoxy and not a paint, seems I always spill water on mine and the epoxy has held up great |

The floor will be fine. Rather than sit the sump directly on the floor, I would build a simple 2x4 box covered in plywood to sit it on. You may also consider covering at least 3 sides with (styrofoam) insulation.
