New Sea Anemone
Hi. I just purchased a new anemone and I had some concerns. I recently fed him and he did what he was suppose to do, like fold up and consume the food. He is having trouble attaching himself to a surface. He likes to flip upside down and I have flipped him upright. Should I continue to do this or should I just leave it alone?

It's gonna float around the tank until it finds a spot it likes. Then it will attach. Likely behind a rock where you can't see it.

Good luck! maybe when it's attached to the rock long enough, you can move the rock to a similar position facing you. I bought one that won't let go of the rock, so i moved the rock to make it a center piece.

What kind of nem? And if it will not stay attached, it means that it is unhappy w/ something. Try to put a container, like a strawberry container, over it so that it doesn't get caught in a power-head. You may want to ask in the clownfish/nem forum.

You may want to wedge it behind/under some rocks, out of direct light. When it feels the need to photosynthesize, it will attach and start "reaching" for the light. Just be careful of power-heads (biggest killer). Looks like a nice nem, could be bleached, that's why I suggested placing out of light. It may take a few weeks to recover. Try not to mess w/ it too much if it does finally attach.

Anemones can be tough - not for new tanks nor new reefers. Suggest you check out the anemone forum here on RC. New nems can suffer from bacterial infections which require treatment in a hospital tank. Absent that it may recover, or it may not.
