Test Equipment
Is there a test kit that doesnt use a color chart. I am very color blind and am having alot of trouble with the charts in my kit.

Use a Hana checker for alkalinity and phosphates and any electronic probe for pH, refractometer for salinity. I'm not that impressed with the Hana checker for calcium, but if the color change is not noticeable enough for you using a titration test kit you may need to go the Hana route for calcium. The Salifert magnesium and calcium titration test kits change shade along with color so you may be able to see them change. See if your local fish store would conduct a test using their kit and see if the change is strong enough for you to read.

Been in industrial maintenance for 29 years and still laugh at the looks they give me

If you see the transition from pink to blue on your API calcium test then you should be good to go with it. The important thing is the change. The exact hue at the end depends on a number of things and might not always be the same. Any shade of blue is blue for the purposes of that test.
