Lighting Layout

Hi All,

Looking for some input on my LED lighting Layout. Specs are as follows:

5 dimmable channels
58 3w LEDs

Channel 1:
16 Royal Blue

Channel 2:
10 Natural/Warm White

Channel 3:
6 Bright White
4 Royal Blue

Channel 4:
10 True Violets

Channel 5:
4 Green
4 Cyan
4 Deep Red

This lineup I believe will give me enough of the full spectrum to do pretty much anything to a certain extent. All these LEDs will be on a heatsink spaced throughout. I know that things are stating to go with clusters of different colors to avoid color banding, but I will not be having any optics on these as it will be all in a hood reflecting down, so I don't believe I will encounter color banding. With that said how's my layout look?

Personally I would add some true blue some where close to the cyan and red, you could even dump the green on 5 to mimic the ocean coral white 3up. The cool and to a lesser extent neutral whites should fill that green in well enough.

So basically remove the Green ones all together, and put True Blue ones in there place? This seems like a lot of blues to me, will the neutral and cool whites dampen the blues? See the attached updated layout.

This is what I was going for. when the three colors mix they produce a "white" light but the emitters have to be close together. if on individual stars they should be touching and if they are going to be on the same channel this would be the best. http://shop.stevesleds.com/3-up-Tris...-AntiDisco.htm


Really there are a thousand ways to do this, you may want to have it moved to the DIY section to get more opinions on the matter.

When I was researching the DIY led setup I used the spectrum configurator at buildmyled.com to build ballpark spectral maps. (I also wound up going with them in the end but that is another story.)

I guess my biggest question now, is this: Will this be enough light for a 24" deep tank?

Can I also have this moved to the DIY section for some more opinions?

Beg, Borrow, or Buy a PAR Meter

not sure if a par meter would help if the light fixture isn't built yet, trying to determine if I will need more lights or just higher powered ones.
