Free swimming plankton?
So I started testing turning the lights off at night completely to replicate very deep ocean waters and tonight is the third night that I do this and I decided to test out or rather see what goes on in my aquarium during the night in complete darkness. I was with the lights completely complete off and I was very surprised at what I saw I have to say there was at least 1000 if not more little free swimming tadpole looking creatures floating around/ swimming around, I used my iPhone light up against the glass and the schooled/gathered togetger up against it. I know this is very indicative of baby fish but I'm guessing it's some sort of plankton or zoo plankton but if anyone has any experience with this I'd like to know what the possibilities are for witnessing this, thank you!

I also forgot to mention i had two closnfish that were paired for 3 months that died 3 weeks ago. Is it possiblt the eggs stayed dormant til i started shuttiing the lights at night? If they did survive than these babies went through hell and back to hatch since i moved everything from the original tank to the larger tank!! |
