Another noob ?? about polyp or corral on live rock

Hi all,
I have a small pinkish or redish, polyp maybe, growing out of LR. It's about the size of a pea right now and eats mysis. Having difficulty posting pics. Anyone have an idea what it may be? It has small white tentacles that protrude all around the top in a perfect circle. Any help is appreciated.

Looks like some type of mushroom, but a better picture would help. All those clear anemone looking things are aiptasia, a major pest that needs to be removed.

Ok good to know. I thought they were some kind of dusters. Thank you and I'll work on a better pic.

I don't think it is a mushroom. It looks like a ball anemone. Not as bad as the aiptasia but still not wanted really.

Ball anemones are fine. Its a desirable hitchhiker. Your gonna want to get that aiptasia under control though.

I agree, on a closer look I would go with Ball Anemone, but a better picture would be helpful.

This is why I use only dry rock when starting a tank!

Skeet, listen to them te the aiptasia - it will become a nightmare if you don't get it under control quickly. Ruined my first reef tank when I thought it was a good hitchhiker - 1 becomes 10 which turn into 50.

Yes they really can get that bad if you don't do anything. I found this picture on Google.

intyme, I'm guessing that it may not have been neglected. The owner might not have been able to do much about it. It can happen. I've seen in my own tank two or three and I zap them. The next time they come back could be a dozen or more. Then the next time only a couple

Could also be that person likes them for whatever strange reason. LOL

Oh I'm working on it. Been researching a lot. How does one go about making Kalk paste? I went and got the only pep shrimp I could find today. I have read about using lime juice, Kalk, getting fish that may eat it (not ready to go that route as I am going on vacation soon) but they are tiny and yes there a bunch already.....
