Flow
I have a question about waterflow.
Right now I just have my return from my sump. (Jeboa 9000 with a manifold running on the 4th light) I have just past my cycle and have a ton of brown algae everywhere and my water is murky. Just plugged in the skimmer last night. Will the water clear up without more flow? Waiting on a power head to show up and add flow. Been running carbon, but it is like the algae is suspended in the water column. I have done a water change once a week for 2 weeks and it is not helping. Thoughts? |

Sounds like a bacteria bloom. It should go away on its own. Flow should not make any difference for water clearing up.

It might but I don't think your tank is fully cycled yet. One day you will wake up and the tank will be clear.

you can add a filtersock on your drain, or even like a (clean) old pantyhose to catch the larger pieces that the skimmer won't lift out. Just don't leave it rotting in there too long, like rinse it out as it fills up.
