Help i just messed up adding a new fish!
i got 2 new fish in the mail today,
i was told they would have salinity of 1.025. i had everything setup properly, i floated the bag for ten min and then i emptied the bag fish and water into bucket and netted the fish into the QT. i forget to make sure the salinity matched the QT of 1.025, and it was only 1.022 whats going to happen to my baby clown? if its not going to make it, when will i know ? what can i do? i have another fish to add also, but it is from divers den and it should def be 1.025 but this time i will obviously make sure. can i add it now, or should i wait to make sure the clown is ok first?

i dont think that is the case when you can match the QT to the exact sainity and float the bag to match temp.
i mean obviously i messed up, but i dont think i should have done drip acclimation.

incorrect
@money, idk I'd prolly use top off rodi to bring it down closer to the clowns shipping water since the DD fish will have an easier time with the drop than he will with the increase. But if the clown isn't freaking out you might wait for someone with more experience than me to chime in.

its been about 30 min, and he seems okay, stressed for sure, but in the corner most of the time, and a few times swam around descently.
i added a few cups of RODI water, but its already been so long , i dont want to drop the salinity at this point for no reason. i dont want to wait much longer with my other divers den fish in the bag. am i okay to add this one now?

A rise in salinity is much worse than a fall, but the difference being .003 it wasn't tooooo awful. .001 is generally quite safe. I'd expect he's ok. 3 days should tell, which is usually long it takes to show up a shock to the kidneys. I'd just start both in qt: if you lose one, remember you always count qt from the LATEST arrived.

you should never drip fish that arrive in the mail. the reason is when air hits the water it rises the ph and the ammonia turns to the more toxic ammonium after about 30 mins. i might of flipped those too,

This is just not correct.
Dripping animals kills more than it helps. Match salinity and temp and let the animal go. Once the bag is opened on a fish, especially a shipped fish, you have about 30 min before the rising pH turns harmless NH4 into deadly nH3. Test it for yourself. Check the nh3 level of the bag inmediatley when opened, then check it about 2 hours later and compare the results.

I give them a day or so with the lights out. 24 hours to be exact.

lights off is really i believe only if you have other fish in the tank. plus clownfish are hardy and dont stress easy, so you can start feeding after an hour i would say
