heater question
I have a 135 gallon DT and a 40g sump. In the sump I have (2) 150 watt eheim heaters. I have both of these heaters at 80 degrees but yet my display tank is showing 76 degrees.
is this a common problem? I am not home during the day to see if the heaters ever turn off, but in the evenings when i am home....the heaters are always on (light visible) any thoughts? |

Need bigger heaters for one. For two it's gonna depend on the flow rate through your sump. A lower flower will take longer for the warmer water to get to the display. I think (again I "think"), typically people use a 300w and a 150w for 125 gallon tanks and larger. That's what I run on mine with a 30g sump.

+1, you should have at least 500 watts of heaters, 600 watts if you let your house get cold at night or while you are away. Also note that the dials on your heaters need to be calibrated, I've seen them off by over 4 degrees F. I use a good lab grade thermometer for calibration.

I use a 300 W and a 150W on my 120 with both set on 80.
I need to size one now for my change water. |

I think your two 150watt should be enough for 120g but if you keep your house really cold you can upgrade one to 300watt just in case. GL |

I have 2 eheim 300's in my 125 with 55 sump and have never had an issue other than trying to get them dialed in.
