Manually Flushing A RODI

I have a 100 gpd AquafX Barracuda RODI that came with no auto flush switch.
How are you to manually flush this filter with no switching mechanism without buying the flush kit sold seperatly?? Why sell something that needs to have another component to workand is not complete.
Thanks guys.

I never had a flush kit until I went to a lower waste ratio.
4-1 ratio seems to be the industry standard for keeping a membrane from scaling when running.

Without the flush kit you cant flush it. I see alot of rodi systems that dont come with pressure guage, tds meter, ect and those things should be a standard on all units.

From what I can tell all the flush kit does is allow water to flow unrestricted out the waste water line. If you remove the small little restriction orifice in the waste water line coming out of the RO membrane then it should flush the membrane. You could set up a bypass valve to do the same thing with the orifice in the middle. Can someone correct me on this.

I went to the AquaFX website and the Rep shows you how to make one yourself and how to tell when the media needs changing
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OPHPg1rnpg0

or you can buy one on Amazon.
Spectrapure has them already on most of their units. You can buy them with manual or automatic flushing. They are suppose to help with membrane life

Basically.
A manual flush kit is so easy to make, you can buy all the need from BRS for like 10 bucks or order it from Spectrapure for like $15.
Don't forget to use your existing flow restrictor.

This is a really good video.

I posted the wrong link for the flush valve kit. This video also covers installing a booster pump.

Thanks Mark for posting the right one.

I run a Coralife Pureflo II that came with a booster pump, and automatic flush valve. Every time it kicks on, it automatically flushes to the drain for 10 seconds.

I run a 3 way bypass valve that allows me to flush my system before I make water. If I leave it in the center position, the system runs normal. When I turn it to the right, it allows me to flush the system. When it's turned to the left position, the water is then redirected to my separate dual DI Resin Cartridge for making tank water.

You guys are talking about two different things.

A FLUSH VALVE is a valve that when opened, allows WASTE WATER to bypass the flow restrictor.

A DI BYPASS VALVE temporarily directs RO water away from the DI.

Flush valve is on the waste water
DI Bypass is on the RO water
