Recycling Sand

I have pulled out a lot of sand from siphoning cyano bacteria out during water changes. I have saved all the sand taken out in a 5 gallon bucket.

1. Can i wash and put back in the Main Display?

2. What is the best way to go about washing it?

Yes, use a five gallon bucket & a garden hose. Rise until the water runs clean. I let it dry if I'm putting it back into an already running tank.
