Electric Blue and Halloween hermit crab

Hello,

I heard those hermits get pretty big. How big do they get? I am thinking about getting one of each for my 90g cube. I do not have any corals or inverts other than the cleaner shrimp. I have few small fishes. Would I be safe?

I've had a Halloween hermit in my tank (s) for over 7 years. It was about 3/4" to 1" when I got it. Over the years it has moved to several new shells (it uses cone shells) and is now in one that is about 2" long.

He can move things that are not attached well in the tank, like a small frag just placed on a rock. But it is by no means a 'bulldozer'. He gets around well and is out a lot during the day. We call him Red and he is one of my wife's favorite critters.

Thank you for the feedback. I am just worried that the Halloween hermit crab will kill a small fish or knock my rocks over.

Mine is big and has never killed a fish... but he will help clean up if a fish dies. He is big enough and strong enough to move small rocks or corals that aren't held in place well. But all in all he's pretty careful about how he gets around.
