Wait. Since when do triggers have a dorsal fin?
So I’ve had a sargasm trigger for almost a year now, but the other day my son called out “Daddy, the trigger thinks he’s a shark!” I went to the tank and discovered that the trigger actually has a dorsal fin that he normally keeps hidden. For some reason he decided to put it out, but I had never seen it before. I didn’t even know he had one.

They have a thick/strong dorsal spine that they trigger and use to wedge themselves into crevices when attacked right?

If I'm not mistaken I think that's where the name Trigger came from. That dorsal fin acts like the trigger on a gun. Sometimes they'll use it to secure themselves among the rocks when they sleep.

Correct, the trigger allows themselves to wedge in rockwork, for sleeping or hiding

That’s kind of like saying:
When did sting rays get stingers?
