In tank - silcone or caulk?
I have an 8ish year old Bio Cube 29. I am getting a little seepage in the front top right corner where the top trim is. The water/salt runs down the outside of the glass.
Open to suggestions, but my current thought is to drop the water level for a few days, and lay down a bead of caulk or silicone inside the tank up against the top trim and glass in the area where seepage is coming from. Questions: 1. Is there a preferred/recommended caulk or silicone? 2. Planning on dropping tank level so the area is above the water line while curing, but what are the risks/potential impact if new/uncured caulk/silicone was to get into the tank water? Thanks, Joe |

Your local store should have a small tube of aquarium safe silicone in black.

GE type 1 100% silicone is easily available...momentive rtv100 series is better if you can find it..
Bead thickness will dictate cure time which may be 48 hours to a week or more Sadly only a partial drain isnt optimal but may work.. Give it a try..If not replacing the tank may be something you need to do..

Maybe this goes without saying...
Make sure you aren't just seeing salt creep.

Agreed, I am sure I am not just seeing salt creep. There is a bit of water, albeit quite small, seeping out from under the top rim trim. It's quite minor, but runs down the side each day.
Thanks all for the suggestions and feedback, I appreciate it. Thanks, Joe |
