Washing PVC fittings

What does everyone wash their PVC fittings and valves with ? Just purchased a gate valve for my bean animal and noticed that it was lubricated with some type of grease or oil. I assume this would be bad for fish.

I would use alcohol followed by vinegar after drying, then a rinse in water just because.

Most fittings are manufactured for potable water function. So with that said they are food safe and shouldnt cause any health related issues with your fish. Coral might be another issue though. It will probably make your skimmer overflow if it's too much grease
