OM 8-way recommendations???

I am having a custom 220gal tank made from acrylic. The dimensions will be 60lx36wx24h. This will be a island/room divider configuration and will be viewable from three sides. The overflow will be external, so there will be around 6"-12" behind the tank. The overflow will be centered in the back with three 3/4" returns on each side and one 2" bulkhead (inlet) on each side--this will all be connected to a closed loop. I will also have two more 3/4" returns drilled in the bottom of the tank toward the front so I can have them firing toward the back of the tank to help keep the rock, etc blown off. So--there will be a total of 8 3/4" returns and two 2" inlets on the closed loop. I am planning on keeping a mix of softies, lps, and sps, so I think I don't want it to be real turbulent, but still enough flow to keep things moving (hope that makes sense). I was thinking of starting with a Sequence Dart for the closed loop pump--not sure if I should go higher??? I like the Dart's because of the low power consumption and most people say they are quiet (the tank will be in my living room).
My question is that I was looking at going with an 8-way.
Do you have any suggestions or recommendations?? Different pump, return placement, etc??? The tank is still in the design stages, so I can still make any changes I want. I will have a separate 75gal tank for the sump and will be running around 900gph through it with a separate pump.
My whole intent with this design is keeping as much clutter out of the display as possible (that's why I'm going with an external overflow). I know that I may get better flow with two 4-ways, but I can't really afford that as i've got quite a bit of $ going into the tank. So I would like to see if it is doable with a single 8-way. I also would like to minimize the amount of equipment and plumbing as much as possible.

Sorry for being lengthy, just looking for your expertise here!!!
