Mag 12?
I am setting up a 55 with a 70 ref. and 50 coral prop. for a closed loop in the main display is a mag 12 with 1/2 inch pipe and 3 nozzles withe the knuckle pieing good enough.

It should be ok depending on what you want to keep but for just the return it should be fine . If you want sps you might need to ad mor flow

well it will be closed loop, but there also will be a return that will add more flow

To get max flow from a Mag12 you need 1.5" plumbing. 3/4" will severely restrict flow.

Because that is the way Mag makes their pumps. I know it sounds odd, but that is the way it is. 3/4" will be a severe flow restriction. Even on a Mag9.5. You need to double the outlet size.

But will the psi go down. I am new as you can tell) Like if I had a polyips two feet away will they feel it. If i went 1.5 how many outlets would i need

You would lose a TON of flow with 1/2" or even 3/4" plumbing. There is no point in using a pump like a Mag12 if you are going to kill 1/2 of the flow anyway with undersized plumbing.
Not all pumps work this way. Pressure rated pumps such as most external pumps don't need the huge plumbing to get good flow. I like Mag pumps for the most part, but this aspect of them, I do not. Working with 1.5" plumbing is not fun. As far as the number of outlets, its up to you. Maybe 4 or so?
