DIY PVC skimmer break in time
My skimmer is up and running, and has been for 5 days. It seems as though it is not fully broken in. Here are the details
5 foot PVC (white) skimmer body (4") sedra 5000 45 gph going through the skimmer there was no sort of soaking before putting it to use, it went from dry to operational. bubbles that have been sitting half way up the riser tube have gone from being white for the first 4 days to a darker color as of this morning. I would describe the color as half way between white and coffee nastyness. Should I be worried about the skimmer's performance or does it sound like it is still breaking in? thanks, Kyle

Sounds like your water level is set to low. How far is the foam from spilling over?

You will want to raise the water level and start producing skimmate. If the skimmer starts to overflow the cup in a day or so, then you can lower the water level accordingly. Right now you are producing some funck on the body or neck and doing nothing but gumming it up

I thought of that but was hoping there was another answer bc I don't want to screw with raising the level (gotta do a little bit of pvc work now).
OK cool, skimmate here I come

I don't at the moment, but the DIY board will be seeing pictures soon. I might get it done this weekend, if not I'll get them posted by next weekend (gotta brew beer and do my taxes this weekend).
