Too many Fish in 10G Quarantine tank?
I've noticed 3 white spots, appearing to be pimples coming from underneath the skin of my Percula Clownfish. I figure it must be ick.
So if I put all the fish in my 10gallon quarantine tank for 6 weeks under hyposalinity, would it be too crowded? I have: 2 Percula Clownfish (2.5" long & 3.5" long) 1 Damselfish 2" 1 Mandarin Dragonet: 2.5" 1 Lawnmower blenny: 3" All fish are pretty small for their species except the Clowns. I know it would seem pretty crowded for 10 gallon, but would it work for the 6 week time period? Or do I need to buy a 20 gallon QT tank? On a separate question, does ick attach to the Mandarin and can the mandarin be left in the display (where it can eat pods)- because I heard Mandarins are pretty much 'ick resistant'. |

The QT would be too small for what you have, IMHO. You'd want the 10 AND the 20, or a 29.
The mandarin is resistant, but still a potential carrier of the disease. They are not immune to Marine Ich. Be careful about your diagnosis. What you described doesn't sound like Marine Ich is supposed to look like. Here are some references to give you help on diagnosis and the mandarin: Steven Pro’s article on Marine Ich (Part 1): http://reefkeeping.com/issues/2003-08/sp/index.htm (Part 2): http://reefkeeping.com/issues/2003-1...ture/index.htm http://www.petsforum.com/personal/tr...marineich.html http://www.saltwaterfish.com/vb/showthread.php?t=127010 http://reefkeeping.com/issues/2005-02/nftt/index.htm A lot of |
