175w Iwasaki Output > 250w MH?
175w SE 14000k Iwasaki = 86 ppfd (bottom of the page)
Reviewed Here VS. 50-80 ppfd from all the 250w bulbs I wanted to use. Reviewed Here Can this be right? MORE light output the 250w 14000-20000k bulbs? No drawbacks + savings in energy costs??? Am I dreaming or is this the perfect lighting solution for me? For a 24x24x12inch tank... I guess the only draw back is that I need to use this bulb and this bulb only... |

Apparently my xenias love this new light. Under the 20000K, some of the xenias I fragged were just starting to heal, and after adding the Iwasaki, not only have they healed, but I see new polyps already in record time! Using this bulb has pushed me to want to turn on my Actinics, but with the growth I'm getting, it's well worth it.

I have this bulb in use and like it a lot. I have a ReefOptix pendant for it: very nice, IMO.

That doesn't compare the par output of a 250 Iwasaki overdriven. In a previous article it said that combination puts out the most par (250 Iwasaki SE with an HQI ballast). I think you can use any bulb with those ballasts (SE and DE) if you get sick of Iwasakis but when they're overdriven they come out white like 10Ks.

Oh sorry. I was talking about overdriving Iwasakis (6500K) on an HQI ballast. I didn't know Iwasaki made anything other than 6500s until now.
