48 hours is a long time for them to be in the bagged water - it will definately stress them out.
Any chance you could do it sooner or change the shipping date so you can be home to do it properly?

i won't wait the 48 hrs at all -
they should come by mid-day tomorrow, i can get home about 530, and start floating the bags, but can't start dripping until about 8 pm |

They will come in bags
All suppliers have acclimation routines they like you to follow and they are pretty good at this as they do not want your new fish to die. I would find their suggestions and stick to them. I float all new fish for at least 20minutes in the quarantine tank (puncturing the bag will do a couple things, allow the oxygen to escape and free up the ammonia to hurt the fish, leave the bag alone) I then put a small scissor cut near the bottom of the bag (below the water, above the detritus in the bag) After another 20 minutes I will release the fish into quarantine.
