It can work, but if you will be gone for a week or so, you might have to rely on on a buddy to take care of it for you until you get back. I have seen alot of tanks crash and everything dies in these situations. Unless the guy is into the reef thing I would be hesitant.

It sounds like risky business, but's hard to kick the habit. I have a friend who does tank maintenance, but he's not cheap. There's a lot of very rich, part-time residents around here.

I have a tank in college--luckily my roomate loves it so he takes care of it wen im gone (every weekend). I do the water changes myself and stuff tho-he just feeds and refills the h2o.
Girls love it too. Nothing more impressive than a pair of clowns when you bring one back for the night.... |

i live in Mass, but go to school in Hawaii and im going to be a senior. I left my 2 tanks (55 and 110) at home and my dad takes care of them. I missed my tanks so i bought a few fish here (2 dwarf eels). Realized the market was insane for hawaiian fish, started collecting. Met some collectors, so i started shipping hawaiian fish to petstores, now I import... in other words, i miss my tanks.. So to answer your question more bluntly... I thought of the idea of keeping a full fish tank, but i go home ever so often. So now i get rid of everything before i go home, then start back up again when i return (im here for 9-11 months out of the year)
