Question Best cure for Cyno is...?

I have a small spot of cyno on one of my rocks. I have seen some posts that recommend using a treatment like Boyd Enterprises Chemi-Clean in the tank, but I am not in favor of using any chemicals in the reef. If I leave it alone will it go away assuming I have corrected the initial cause?

Eliminate the source of the nutrients.. You either have excessive nitrate or phosphate... you may not be able to test for them with a test kit because the cyano takes it up so fast.

More water movement and water changes should help.

Don't do anything that drastic for a spot. It depresses your sandbed and pods a little, and no telling what beneficial bacteria it takes out. Get a sea swirl or otherwise up the flow. I have a dimesized spot myself on the old end of a fox coral where I missed the intended frag point, and I'm sure it will go away. You might get some nassarius snails and a conch.

For a spot I would simply point a powerhead at it. If it doesnt go away, I use Phosban and it works great. Its also the only phosphate remover that doesnt release phosphates back into the water. I run mine in a canister filter.

Are you saying that Rowaphos releases phosphate back into the water?
