What can I do with my trickle filter
I have a trickle that uses bioballs. I want to be able to make a sump/fuge out of it. Should I just replace the ball with LR? It's a Oceanic 75 trickle that is tinted. What's the best filtration can I get out of this for a reef setup.

You could use it to hide equipment and perhaps to hold a protein skimmer. If the tank needs more filtration, you might be able to light the bio-ball area and grow (and harvest) a macroalga there. I don't know much about that particular unit, so I can't help much more.

You could probably get some acrylic and cut it to the inside width and silicon it to the bottom opening in your trickle filter. then you can use this ceter space as a fuge.

I have an Amiracle wet/dry that I converted to a sump/fuge. First chamber is for the overflow water from the display. In there is my Berlin skimmer and a heater. I split the second chamber with a piece of acrylic glued in so that the right side is a fuge and it overflows into the center chamber, which houses another heater and a Mag 9.5 return pump.
