cleaning skimmer
How do you guys clean your skimmers? Ive heard of using a vinegar bath. how much vinegar should i use and how long should my pumps run in it?

If the pump for the skimmer is easy to take apart (no screws, for example), you could just disassemble the pump, put it into a 50-50 water-vinegar mix, and take it out when any white deposits have stopped fizzing. That's what I do. Otherwise, maybe run it for 20 minutes, as a wild guess.

any guide on how often this should be done with calcium being kept at correct levels? im guessing every couple months?

In all honesty, I take apart the pump every couple of months, and never see any calcium deposits at all, but the pumps in my skimmers are small and thus don't produce much heat. What kind of pump are you cleaning?
