Angry Ok Now I Really Need Rock.

I'm fed up. I have posted the same thing on countless boards/forums asking where to get good cheap rock, done innumerable google searches, and i still cant find any places that have anything good for a good price.
($1.00-1.50/lb)

I need cheap rock. about 70 lbs. i dont want it to be dense so that ammout goes a long way.

I've looked at hirock.com (and it dosnt load up).

Live aquaria's shipping would be more than it would be for the actual rock so i'm not goin there.

reeferrocks is to expensive. (i think, couldnt realy find a price but the one price i did find was high, if anyone knows how much 70-80 lbs of base/live rock wopuld be pleast tell me)

any other places?

For that price I doubt you will find any live rock not even uncured.
Base dry rock may be.

At my lfs I spent 120 on 20 lbs of LR. 3.5 was cured base, and the rest was a mix of fiji and marshall island. LR isnt cheap.

You ask for the impossible and no-one provides an answer? Shocking. Your best bet is looking at local classifieds (reef clubs, craigslist, etc.)

Dude, I really hate to bust your bubble, but you're not even going to find dead, sun dried, base rock that cheap!

Happy Hunting though

My LFS store here in NC stocks some very nice base rock for $1.49 a pound and some reef rock for $1.89 a pound. Nice stuff too. Sorry you are in CO. See if your LFS can order some cheap stuff.

You get what you pay for. Why skimp? Get a smaller tank or go with FOWLR or freshwater.

My LFS sells it for between $10-$13/lb CDN as do any of the LFS here. If you can get it for any cheaper and it has any life on it...you're lucky!

LR is not cheap.. i lucked out at a frag swap and got a bunch of "garage dried" marshall rock for .75 a Lb... basically the guy really wanted to get rid of it and i gave him an offer...

unless any local reefers have rock laying around expect to pay AT LEAST 3.99 a lb but usually a lot more...

I agree. It will be very hard to find at those prices. If you decide to spend a little more. I would recommend www.reefermadness.us I got 120lbs of Pukani from them, and it is great looking rock.

It is $20 a pound in Japan!!!!

It is fully cured though, it should be gold plated at that price!

If it's a FOWLR anyways then you can get by with Lace Rocks - they're like .99 cents /lb in every LFS here in my area. The only "possible" problems are that 1. They are not "live", ie. you have to seed them or start a new cycle and 2. They could contain metals like Cu and also Si... but a portion of my LR's are lace rocks and I have a full-blown reef setup. Up to you.
