Should I make a DSB in a 30G Hex

I am wondering whether or not to put a DSB in my 30G hex, I heard to do it from some and not from others, what do you guy think? And also will it have any negative effects, such as producing phosphate? thanks

I here that people have trouble with nitrates after the tank has been running for a year or more.

I have a DSB in my 40 and have had no problems with nitrates. Probably the opposite since my nitrates are 0.
