HQI Color/Bulb Question

I see a lot of tanks on here that just have brilliant purples/blues/greens. It seems like most of the tanks that I like are running 10k XM bulbs with 2-4 VHO actnics. My question is when I replace my bulbs if I got the 10k XM and put 2 actinics in my T5's would this give me the same coloration or do they need to be VHO to really bring out the color? Thanks in advance for any advice.
