What do you think..........is it some type of whelk. The dam thing follows the fish with its proboscis, like a rifle. Seems like a nassarius sp. but it hides under rocks and ledges. ***!!!!!

I'd guess that it is a whelk, but your picture is inappropriate for a proper identification.
