Who is AVAST Marine Works?

Ahoy Reef Central!

Just to briefly introduce ourselves, we arr an equipment manufacturing company based in Alexandria, Virginia, USA. We build all manner of useful aquarium tools completely in-house, taking pride in affordable quality with attentive service & support.

More specifically, we specialize in Do It Yourself (aka YOU-Built) kits of many necessary filtration components, such as cone protein skimmers, media reactors, calcium reactors and so on. These kits are designed to be assembled by beginner builders, and have all parts precut and supplies included. Thinking of using biopellets? Our MR-5 kit is a perfect reactor for up to 1L of pellets, and comes standard with the anti-clog screens. You won't find as heavy-duty and nice looking reactor for the price anywhere.

For those who prefer plug-n-play equipment, we offer most of our kits in AVAST-Built form, along with many clever devices that will save you time and effort in the unending responsibility of reef aquarium maintenance.

For example, our flagship product, the Swabbie, automatically cleans the inside of your skimmer's neck, maintaining peak efficiency for weeks to months so you don't have to mess with washing it out every few days. Just plug it into a common timer and watch your skimmer produce crud on day 20 just like it does on day 1. Read more here and here

Swab the Neck!

Complementing the Swabbie, all that reef poo has to go somewhere, so why not send it where you won't have to wash & smell it every few days? Davy Jones' Skimmate Locker will both trap that waste and turn off your skimmer when it gets full. So not only does it lessen the frequency of skimmer maintenance, but it helps protect against the nastiest kind of reef accident- skimmer overflow (especially with external skimmers!)

Need a system for calcium and alkalinity replenishment? Check out our super-efficient kalk stirrer and calcium reactor team. While the reactor will deliver high levels of calcium & alkalinity in balanced proportions to keep corals growing strong, it can often lower tank pH due to the acidity of the CO2-laden effluent. That's where the kalk stirrer comes in. Dosing fully saturated lime (kalk) water counteracts the low pH and adds calcium & alkalinity in a balanced manner as well. You can't beat a reactor/stirrer pair for balanced ca/alk supplementation & pH control in a reef aquarium.

Don't forget to check out our ever-growing array of DIY components, such as CNC-cut flanges, custom-cut tube, obscure fittings and many other parts for your projects.

Finally, we back up all of our products with enthusiastic support and a full 1 year warranty. Got a DIY question or need advice or a special part cut on a CNC router? Just let us know and we'll happily do our best to help you out.

Thank you for your support!

Dan & Justin,

Captains.
